President- Elect

Elise Haupt, PA-C, MPH

As a Physician Assistant who has practiced in Psychiatry, Emergency Medicine, and Hospital Medicine, I know what responsive, adaptable, integral members of the care team PAs are. I am a former Director-at-Large for MAPA and now am a Minnesota delegate to the AAPA House of Delegates, for which I must keep abreast of local and national policies affecting PAs. Now is a pivotal time to be a PA, as we push for Optimal Team Practice both nationally and at a local level here in Minnesota. I look forward to being at the helm of MAPA as President-Elect while we move the profession ahead. I will work with MAPA leadership to engage other stakeholders and professions to bring accessible healthcare to all Minnesotans by moving forward with OTP. PAs as a crucial part of the healthcare delivery team, we know as a profession how vital we are to the current state and future of healthcare. As MAPA President-Elect I will continue to advocate that we have been delivering excellent care to Minnesotans and will continue to be competent, compassionate healthcare innovators.

Beverly Kimball, PA-C

I am interested in serving as Secretary of MAPA. Having been a member of MAPA since moving to Minnesota in 1985 I have served as a Director at Large, Delegate to the AAPA HOD, President, on various committees – but never as Secretary. As the Academy has grown and evolved the role of Secretary has morphed as well. No longer is the primary function of the Secretary one of “taking and maintaining the minutes”. Our new Management Company has relieved the volunteer in this position from that burden. The Secretary has become an integral part of the Executive Leadership of the Academy. Full disclosure – I no longer live in Minnesota. We moved to Wisconsin in 2005. I continued to work in Minnesota until 2007. I “retired from gainful employment” in Wisconsin in 2017. I volunteer at a free clinic in Wisconsin as well as continuing to volunteer for and with MAPA. I am a Fellow Member of MAPA and identify Minnesota as my affiliation for AAPA purposes. My professional heart continues to be with MAPA. I will appreciate your support in my quest to serve as Secretary.

(2 available positions for 2019 election)

John Boettger, PA-C

I had the opportunity to attend the last board meeting as a guest during the Fall conference and would be honored to join the MAPA team. Erin Rysavy suggested that this position would be a good fit for me.

Carolyn Jahr, MS, PA-C

I respectfully request your vote for the MAPA Director at Large position. I have been a practicing PA in Minnesota for the last 10 years, and currently hold a faculty position at The College of St. Scholastica PA program. I also have 7 years of experience in an administrative role as a bariatric surgery program coordinator.

I have served as a MAPA faculty representative to the Board and a

member of the CME committee since 2017. My recent experiences as a faculty representative and with the CME committee have both familiarized me with MAPA’s organizational goals and left me eager to seek additional ways to support the endeavors of our academy. I would be honored to put my administrative and professional experiences to work for you as a director at large, and help MAPA continue to work to strengthen, adapt, and promote PA practice in Minnesota and beyond.

HOD Delegate to AAPA

(3 available positions for 2019 election)

Cynthia Goetz, MPAS, PA-C

As a PA for 26 years, I am passionate about our profession and have been doing volunteer work with MAPA for the past 25 years. I want to support Minnesota PA's and seek to do what I can to ensure the future of the profession. I have served in many roles with MAPA over the years, as well as serving on committees with AAPA. Most recently I have served as an AAPA HOD delegate and would like to continue in the position during this time of great change for our profession. I appreciate your support for being able to continue the work of MAPA and the PA profession.

Mikal Mikkelson, MS, PA-C, ATC

I would like to ask for your vote for the House of Delegates position. I have been practicing as a PA in Minnesota for more than 7 years, currently practicing community based primary care in family medicine in the Mayo Clinic Health System, where I also serve as the Southwest Minnesota Region Advanced Practice Provider Clinical Education Coordinator. I have had the opportunity to serve on the MAPA Board of Directors for the past two years as a Director At Large. I also serve MAPA as the chair of the Leadership Development Committee and as a member of the Continuing Medical Education Committee. These experiences have been rich; they have allowed me to better understand MAPA’s mission and vision, as well as the challenges facing our practices and our profession. Serving in MAPA has also allowed me the opportunity to continue to develop as a professional and a leader, and provided me with an opportunity to serve my fellow colleagues across the state and give back to the profession that has given me so much. If elected, I look forward to combing all of the skills and experiences I have obtained to serving my fellow PAs in the state of Minnesota as a Delegate by advocating for the PA practice and profession and a whole in the state of Minnesota.

Becky Ness, PA-C

I have had the privilege of serving the MN Academy in the AAPA House of Delegates for the past 2 years and am currently the chief delegate moving into the 2019 House in Denver. I am actively engaged in legislative activities at the state and national levels and am asking for your vote to allow me to continue in this capacity. The PA profession continues to evolve and grow and is currently one of the best jobs as listed in Forbes earlier this year. Having the experience of the House and all that has occurred over the last 2-3 years allows me an insight to continue to represent the MN PAs at the national level. Thank you for your support and I look forward to continuing to represent MN PAs in the AAPA House of Delegates.
