2019 MAPA Board Nominations

Interested in serving as a MAPA leader? Nominations are now open for positions with terms beginning July 1, 2019. Please complete the form below to submit your nomination.

Requirements - Candidates must:

  1. Be a member of MAPA
  2. Be a member of AAPA
  3. Expected to participate in three board and strategic planning meetings during the year

 

Timeline:

  • Nominations open through March 15, 2019
  • Online voting opens May 1, 2019
  • Election results finalized and reported around May 15, 2019. Terms of Office begin July 1, 2019*


OPEN POSITIONS

 

President-Elect:  Responsibilities include:

  • To attend all officially designated Board and Academy business meetings
  • To uphold the responsibilities of a Board Member as outlined in the Academy Bylaws
  • To succeed to the presidency at the conclusion of the first elected year
  • To assume the duties of the President in his/her absence
  • To serve as an alternate to the AAPA HOD
  • To assist with planning of semi‐annual Strategic Planning meetings
  • Plan for appointing / confirming committee chairs for your year as president in conjunction with the leadership development chairperson
  • Maintain regular communications with the President
  • Serve as a liaison to assigned committees
  • Seek counsel from the President and Past Presidents
  • Other duties as may be assigned by the Board or President
  • Seek out persons to work with during Presidential Year (e.g., potential candidates for officer and   chairpersons)
  • To annually review and recommend revision of this position description as needed

Secretary: The main responsibility of the secretary is to assure that the chapter records are accurately and regularly maintained. S/he shall also coordinate the internal and external communications required to facilitate the goals of the Board.The President or the designate may assign additional duties. Responsibilities include:

  • Record or delegate the recording of the minutes during MAPA Board Meetings. The minutes from each meeting should posted on the MAPA website within 30 days following the meeting
  • Create and update a task list which should summarize recent Board action items, Board members assigned to pending items,and know interim progress since the last meeting
  • Work with the Executive Board in creation of an annual report of the accomplishment of the Board and the chapter. This should be sufficient to update the membership and to support efforts of the Board for fundraising and award or grant applications
  • .Assure the notification of MAPA members of all Board and Strategic Planning meetings
  • Attest the signature of the officers of the Academy
  • Assure that Officer updates are submitted to AAPA
  • Serve as Execitive Board liaison to MAPA committee chairs as assigned by the President
  • Develop and maintain an annual MAPA calendar of events for Board activities

Director at Large (2): Each of the Directors at Large is elected by the general membership for a two‐year term. Responsibilities include:

  • To attend all officially designated Board and Academy business meetings
  • To uphold all the responsibilities of a Board Member as outlined in the Academy Bylaws
  • To maintain/facilitate open communication between the Board and Academy membership
  • Assist fellow officers as needed
  • Post a written report to the website prior to each BOD meeting
  • Within the first year of the 2-year term, determine which committee best fits your interest/skills, and become an active member of that committee
  • Submit an article for ImPAct; once a year for each Director
  • To annually review and recommend revision of this position description as needed
 

House of Delegates (3) (AAPA House of Delegates): Delegates are to be elected based on the number apportioned by, and policies set forth by, AAPA. Responsibilities include:

  • Attend MAPA Board meetings, Strategic Planning sessions, and CME Conferences
  • Be present for HOD hearings and official sessions at AAPA
  • Chief Delegate assures orientation of new HOD members and reviews process including registration, transportation, housing and food, reimbursement
  • Chief Delegate coordinates activities of the HOD such as securing credentialing letters and  briefing other representatives on current issues
  • If possible, publish an article in imPAct with general information explaining what HOD is, review of any hot topic resolutions, offer information about the resolutions in general, solicit comments regarding the resolutions
  • Assure maximum participation during HOD by communicating expectations, orienting new members and assigning responsibilities.(e.g. testifying if appropriate, monitoring reference committees)
  • Prepare a written report on HOD activities, with a link to summary of actions, for the Board
  • All delegates should participate in writing parts of the follow up imPAct articles after HOD to inform members of HOD actions
  • Prepare budget for annual budget review and planning
