MAPA Board Nomination and Election Process

Board Requirements

All Board Candidates Must:
  • Be a member of MAPA
  • Participate in four board and strategic planning meetings during the year (January, March, June and September/October)
  • Candidates for President-Elect, Treasurer, Secretary and Delegate to AAPA HOD must also be AAPA members


  • Nominations open January 2
  • Nominees encouraged to attend Spring Board meeting
  • Nominations close March 25
  • Online voting opens April 1
  • Voting closes by April 15
  • New board terms begin July 1

Board Positions:

President-Elect (elected annually)

  • This position is a three-year term which cycles through the officer/executive committee positions of President-Elect, President and Past-President.

Secretary (elected in odd years)

Treasurer (elected in even years)

Director at Large (2 elected annually, total of 4) 

  • This position is a voting member of the Board of Directors, each aligning with specific committees to assist in fulfilling the strategic priorities of MAPA and serves a 2 year term.

Delegate to the AAPA House of Delegates (3 elected annually, total of 6 currently)

  • Delegates are elected based on the number apportioned by, and policies set forth by, AAPA. Each serves a 2 year term with MAPA, with the Chief Delegate serving as a voting member of the MAPA Board of Directors.
